Course Description
Enforcement of the Construction Stormwater Permit requirements is a top EPA priority. The risks associated with permit non-compliance are far greater than most companies realize and include the potential to tie-up a project with heavy fines and litigation for years. Owners, designers and builders must understand the risks and the permit requirements to be able to cost-effectively manage them at each stage of the project. This course will cover:
- Origin, evolution and future of the stormwater regulations
- How the various layers of regulation are structured and how to quickly determine which ones affect your project
- Legal, financial, and other consequences of permit non-compliance
- Best Management Practices (BMPs) for meeting the Stormwater Permit requirements
- The Uniform Stormwater Management System (USMS) approach that simplifies and standardizes your compliance efforts from pre-planning to turnover
- Definitions of the terminology used throughout the regulations
Learning Objectives
- Acquire the foundational knowledge needed for implementation of cost-effective programs to manage stormwater permit requirements from design to turnover
- Understand what is required of the project's SWPPP Administrator to maintain compliance during construction
